I recently had a great conversation with Lily Moayeri who interviewed me for this month’s MIX magazine about “Better Call Saul”… the interview is also available online here.

Pleased to read today that the limited series “Flesh and Bone” from exec producer (and fellow Breaking Bad alum Moira Walley-Beckett) that we recently wrapped has gotten its premiere date on STARZ. Cannot wait for everyone to see and hear it!
I recently spoke with Esquire.com about the score for “Better Call Saul,” and we talked a little about my journey to find a new musical palette that would be entirely different from “Breaking Bad.” The interview includes a streaming audio version of a piece I wrote for the BCS pilot called “Magic Hands.”
The season one finale of Better Call Saul airs next Monday night. Read the full interview on Esquire.
From today’s Variety:
Following post-game coverage, a special episode of “The Blacklist” earned series-high ratings (8.7 in 18-49, 26.5 million viewers overall). These are the best numbers for any entertainment telecast since last year’s Academy Awards on ABC, and this is the most-watched scripted telecast on NBC since the night of the “Friends” finale in May 2004.
Two things that will never stop being magical to me: A) setting foot on movie studio lots and B) getting to record my music in hallowed recording studios. Last week was my first session for Moira Walley-Beckett’s “Flesh and Bone” (Starz.) United (formerly Ocean Way) Studio B on Sunset Blvd. Thanks to James Saez for the pics and for driving that Neve.
Better Call Saul premiere date announced! The premiere will air after The Walking Dead on Sunday Feb 8th, and then the second episode will air the very next night on Monday the 9th, and the series will be on Monday nights at 10pm from then on. (Good thing The Blacklist is moving to Thursdays, or I’d be competing with myself…)

And I can finally announce that yes, I’ve gotten the call from Saul.
Thrilled and humbled to work once again with Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, and so many other amazingly talented people…

I had the chance to speak with noted author and film music guru Jon Burlingame recently. We discussed Breaking Bad, The Blacklist, the ASCAP Composer’s Choice award, and what I’m up to next….

Which leads me to this… I am very pleased and excited to officially announce that my next television scoring project will be “Flesh & Bone” for Starz, from Breaking Bad writer/producer Moira Walley-Beckett. It should start airing Spring of next year. The photo is of Moira and I on the set in the East Village of NYC a few weeks ago. You can learn more about it in my interview with Jon Burlingame (see above).
I’m very proud to have been named ASCAP’s Best TV Composer for 2013 last night at the ASCAP Film and TV Music Awards, alongside Bear McCreary. There is no greater feeling than to be recognized by your peers. Thank you!
